Washing

Before using a new diaper

All items have to be washed prior to use. Wash it once before use with normal laundry or on their own using detergent. The diapers are ready to use once dry. The bamboo inserts will get more absorbent over time, the more you wash them. Inserts generally become more absorbent within the next 6-8 washes.

Preparing to wash

Remove all solids with a bidet spray or scrape them off and flush them. If you don't have a spray, pick off as much poop as possible and rinse off. No need to rinse pee only diapers. Soiled diapers should be washed daily or every other day.

Pre-wash

Pre-wash is a diaper only washPre-wash the diapers on a 30-60 minutes short full cycle with normal detergent. This step should not be skipped as it removes most of the soiling. It is recommended to prewash daily or every other day.

Main Wash

Main wash is a full load wash. Diapers can be combined with small items such as tea towels, baby clothes and small adult clothes to bulk up. We recommend washing the diapers at 40°-60° for at least 2-3 hours (usually the cotton setting). A temperature higher than 60° may reduce the life span of your diaper over time.

Choose a mainstream detergent if possible. All of our washing instructions are evidence-based guidelines from Clean Cloth Nappies FB Group and are not strict rules.

There is no need to dry the nappies in between the pre-rinse cycle & main wash.

Drying

Line dry. Do not dry the nappies in a tumble dryer as this will reduce the life span of your nappies.
